A sad story...Chloe fell and bit the inside of her top lip on Monday night. It was bleeding excessively and seemed to have tissue caught between her two front teeth. We took her to the ER where a Doctor and Oral Surgeon took a look in her mouth. Luckily they didn't think it needed surgery and we were sent home with instructions to let it heal on it's own over the next week. The following morning, the bleeding seemed to have slowed down, but by lunchtime it started again. Mom put Chloe down for her nap since she had a very late night in the ER the previous night and called the Doctor. When Chloe woke up from her nap, the bleeding started heavily again, so Mom took her back to the Pediatric Urgent Care office where they confirmed that she had tissue caught between her teeth which was pulling at the laceration, making it unable to heal. They sent us back to the ER to be seen once again by an oral surgeon. It was touch and go for a while whether sedation and stitching would be needed, but luckily it wasn't! The surgeon was able to remove the lodged tissue and send Chloe home to her warm bed. I am very happy to report that little Chloe woke up this morning with no signs of blood and her cut already seems significantly better. Amazing how quickly our bodies can heal...especially when you're little!
Through it all, Chloe was a very brave little girl (much braver than her Mom)! We are so thankful that she's healing and feeling better.
P.S. We thought it best not to post a photo for this one...
