Last Week in Buenos Aires

We are now into our last week in BA. Crazy to think of how fast the month has fine by! Chloe and I have been making sure we take in every moment and enjoy all of our favorite spots. We enjoy our daily espresso at Freddo where Chloe gets her milk, scoop of dulce de leche and we split a crossant. Then on to our favorite parks (with the lakes and rose garden), or an art museum, San Martin playground, Palermo carousel, or strolling around the shops. Yes, I know we are living a pretty charmed life right now, and are soaking up every minute! We spent yesterday morning at the cemetery again, chasing cats...per Chloe's request. I took the time to take some really great photos which will be posted soon.

The biggest development of the day, Feb 27, was Chloe's first doo doo in the potty!! Sorry Aunt Sharon, I know you're mortified for the public announcement...;) but I'm too proud not to share. She was very proud of herself too. Clapping and repeating over and over "poop poop potty"!
We bought a special dessert at Maranda (my favorite) restaurant and shared a spoon...paid a little for the sugar rush later but that's ok.

Today is friday, we are off to an art museum and playground. Ciao ciao!

Buenos Aires Update

A few more milestones...
Chloe can now pit 2-3 words together, such as no more ham or a mommy or mommy wine...
She is also in big girl pull up diapers! She's been getting better and better at using the potty and when Josh was out here, she started to use the grown up potty! Not long before she'll be out if diapers completely! My little girl....
Moms prediction is by 2 years.

Dad Joins Chloe and Mom in Argentina

I've been back home for a couple of days after a great week in Buenos Aires with Jeanine and Chloe. Buenos Aires is a beautiful city with a relaxed and warm culture. We enjoyed some of the best-tasting steak and excellent Malbec wines. (The steak is so good that even Jeanine was regularly ordering it. I never thought I'd see the day...) We checked out many of the city's neighborhoods, with Palermo and San Telmo being my favorites. Chloe loved the many parks throughout the city. Each time we passed one, she loudly requested to "play." She is getting very good with her words. I was amazed after being away from her for two weeks how quickly she was progressing. Being around Jackie and Logan, who are both very good with their words, was helpful for her. Chloe was also very good at the restaraunts we went to throughout the week. She loves to color and play with Play-Dough. Another favorite of hers is of course gellato, especially on the hot days.
By the time I arrived, Jeanine and Chloe knew their way around the city very well. Jeanine is quite good at using her limited Spanish to get around. The locals (portenas) certainly appreciated her efforts at using their language. I, being the lazy American, simply attached a vowel to English words ("foodo," "parko" " where is there an ATM-o?") which was sometimes met with blank stares. By the end the end though, I knew the basics.
Chloe and Jeanine return on Tuesday. I'm really looking forward to seeing them as are Zim and Pepper. Zim has been especially bummed out since they left. Pepper, a little less so. I think she is enjoying the "vacation" of no tail-pulling. A special thanks to Tanya who took care of Zim and Pepper while I was away. We really owe you one!
I'm working on a video from my trip which I should be able to post soon.

Hola Mi Amigas y Familia!

Hi everyone! Here's the latest update from Argentena...
Melissa and Jackie visited us for a week, they just left on Monday. We had an amazing time together. Chloe, Jackie and Logan got along famously, and Jackie and Chloe seemed like they knew they are meant to be life long friends. Chloe even gave her prized possession to Jackie, her blankie! Now you know, that is love!
We spent the week touring the city, walking the streets of San Telmo, eating at local Argenetian restaurants, shopping in Palermo, eating gelato, sipping espressos, and relaxing in parks. A moment for sentimental thoughts...12 years ago Melis and I backpacked through Europe together, 20 years ago, Melis and I became best friends, and here we are, traveling together again, with our two girls. I am so thankful for such an amazing friendship, and Chloe is thankful for her new friend Jackie!
Melis flew out on Monday, and Josh arrived! Chloe was super excited to see her Daddy! We talked about his arrival for days before he came.  It's been two and a half days reunited as a family. We've covered a ton of ground already...the first night we had a mellow meal at a restaurant recommended by Michele, who ate there when she was visiting BA a month go. We didn't get there until about 9pm, definitely fitting into the BA lifestyle, including Chloe! She was the star of the restaurant and good as gold! (Amazing what a little Pla-Dough can do)
The next day, we walked around a famous park in BA, went to an Art Museum, the Japanese Gardens, had a picnic, checked out the new "waterfront" neighborhood, and of course, espresso cafes in between.
That night Josh and I headed to dinner and drinks in Palermo, while our amazing babysitter watched Chloe.
Today we walked around Palermo, did some damage, oops, I mean shopping...took Chloe to the park and merry go round, had lunch at La Cabrera a Parrilla here, then home for a relaxing glass of vino and feet up.
P.S. I ate my first steak in probably 15 years today, and loved it! Of course, it was the grass fed cow who hopefully had a nice life...I'm only a temporary carnivore...when in Rome.
More updates soon...
Ciao ciao!
PSS Chloe can say Ciao Ciao ;)

Buenos Aires Update

Melissa and Jackie arrived in Monday, we were so excited to see them!! Luckily it rained the day they arrived so we had an excuse to catch up on sleep and mellow out for the night.

The next day we headed to San Telmo, known for it's tango and antique shopping. We had a fabulous lunch at a local spot with the babies. They were good little girls sitting at the table while mamas tried out traditional Argentenean dishes. We walked through the park across the street fir a while, then strolled down Despair Ave, known for antigue shopping, through downtown, into San Martin, then back to Recoleta and home. We changed quickly and headed back out to the design center patio where tango was happening! The babies danced to the music and we sat and had a very late dinner, Buenos Aires style. The babies have adjusted to their new bedtime well.
Chloe and I splept through the night for the first time last night, it was wonderful!

Today we took Melis and Jackie to the cemetery where the girls chased cats again! We stopped for lunch at an outdoor cafe then strolled home with gelato in hand.

Tonight we had a babysitter, Jimena, she's wonderful! We headed out to Palermo for some evening boutique shopping then dinner at Bar Uriate, yum! Buenos Aires is our new favorite city!

Tomorrow we're off the the four seasons pool for some sun and r&r!!

Dad arrives on Monday!

More updates later....

Ciao ciao!

Buenos Aires

Hola from Buenos Aires!

I am having a great time here. The weather is amazing, I can wear a sundress everyday! I've been in a super great mood since we got here. I'm up for anything, on the go all the time and don't mind napping in my stroller!

Today we went to the famous cemetery where Evita is buried. It is a magical place, so beautiful and so much fun to run around in, like a gigantic maze! I especially loved chasing all the stray cats.

I'm having a great time rooming with Logan, he's my buddy.I still don't have the internal clock fixed, as I'm waking up at 2am and wanting to play with mum. We watch Elmo together and built forts. Sometimes we make daddy out of playdough and I feed him palydough food.

Some recent milestones:I can now sleep in a big girl bed (I refuse to sleep without my mum and daddy's not here to kick me out of bed, heehee) I can say binky, blankie, eyes, nose, teeth, and hair. These are all recent additions to my growing vocabulary. Mum thought the best part about it was that I woke her up at 2am and recited all the words for the first time. She was very proud!

More news soon!

Muchos besos.

PS I am getting very particular with my things. Everything has it's spot and it has to go exactly there, not an inch out of place. I also like to keep my things clean and my hands clean. Anytime they get anything on them , I ask mom to clean them...hmmmm where does she get it from...?!!!

Buenos Aires -- Day 1

Chloe and Mom took off yesterday for their Buenos Aires adventure. A five hour flight to DC, where we scored 2 empty seats! One for Chloe and one for all of Chloe's bags! Mom couldn't be happier. Chloe was a perfect angel. She played happily for the first 4 hours then slept the last. Not a single cry!

Next was a two hour layover where Logan and Chloe played together on the floor with trains. Mom and Sarah worked hard to get extra seats on the next flight, 10 hours. It wasn't looking good until the last minute. Persistence pays off! Hooray, we both scored an empty seat for the babies. Chloe played for an hour in her seat then was out for the count for the next 8 hours of the flight, not a peep! One hour forty minutes later, a very happy little girl got off the plane, not a single tear....that's my girl.

Stay tuned for more from the diary of Chloe and Mum.
