The Finished Gardens

Planting my Garden on my Birthday

Mom gave me my very own gardening tools to plant my garden with. We spent the afternoon planting flowers in our flower beds in the front of our house. I had a great time digging in the dirt!

Chloe's Preschool Party

We had a joint bday party at Chloe's preschool for Chloe and her friend Benjamin. Chloe and Mom made cupcakes for the party...chocolate with pink icing for the girls and green for the boys. Chloe was so excited to have cupcakes with her friends. We read books afterwards to her classmates. Chloe was very happy to have Mom hang out for her party!

Chloe's Preschool Update

When Chloe enters the classroom and sees her friends, her big beaming smile spreads across her face. She runs to greet her friends with a delightful squeal and begins to engage in their activities such as dressing up in the latest princess dresses or brings her own "Backpack, Backpack". She will jump, roll and laugh with her friends as they roam about the room, cooking up some food for the babies in the kitchen or playing with the animals in the block area.

Chloe has worked through some emotions about transitions with a new baby on the way and with Mom going back to work. With support of her friends and teachers, Chloe has had some time to process her new surroundings by reading stories in the classroom and hearing about friend's similar transitions. Chloe has gained more confidence in her abilities to adjust to these changes and she remains consistently upbeat and enthusiastic with her friends and teachers at school. Chloe has made strides in expressing her feelings with words and has shown genuine empathy for friends who are sometimes sad in the classroom.

Chloe has a strong expressive spirit and she is inclined to dance, run, sing, giggle and dress in lavish costumes at any given moment. She is mastering most of the climbing and sliding equipment in the big yard. She is able to focus during story times and add her own ideas when she wishes. During small group times Chloe focuses quietly on most art activities, carefully selecting the brushes and colors to create just the right effect upon the canvas. She is an observant child and knows what is happening not only in her immediate surroundings but outside her general area. She is quick to respond to an activity or event that interests her.

Chloe provides cheery energy and momentum for friends and teachers on a daily basis. She is a delight to have in the classroom and we look forward to seeing her continued growth in the future.

Tyndale-Biscoe Family Visits from Spain!

We were lucky enough to be visited by the entire Tyndale-Biscoe Family in town from Spain! Nothing better than seeing the cousins again. Thanks so much for taking the time to get together.

Opening Presents at home!

I had such a fun time opening presents at home and got some super fun toys, clothes and games! Thank you to everyone for coming to my party. I had a great time. It lived up to the one month hype! Thank goodness Mom decided to change the day to Saturday instead of Sunday due to weather. It poured today (the original party date) so we would have had to cancel. Everyone switched their plans last minute and made it to Chloe's party, thank you for helping to make it a special day!
We were rained in all day on Sunday, but it was no problem staying occupied with all my new fun toys! Thank you to everyone!

Happy 3rd Birthday Chloe!! We love you!

Mmm....edible chocolate butterflies, every girls dream!

Bouncey Princess Castle fun!

The kids had a great time bouncing in the bouncy house! Nothing like having your own private bouncy house with 3 year olds only...no big kids to trample!

The Kiddos At Chloe's 3rd Birthday Party

Janowyn, Jaiden, & Harper...eating yummy snacks at the picnic table. It was a great day, filled with a jumpy house, playground, bubbles and cupcakes.

Mama, Chloe and Baby Brother

Chloe's excited to be a big sister! She loves kissing Baby Brother and giving him hugs.

Chloe is Turning 3 in Ten Days!

Chloe is turning 3 in ten days, and we have seen amazing development over the past year! A formal update will come on her birthday. But for now, one big development is her verbal skills, her reasoning skills, and her imaginative play...which is the most fun.

Chloe says something everyday that cracks us up and asks the most amazing questions that actually stump us as to how to answer. She is doing a ton of imaginative play at home with her animals, dolls and invisible friends (typically named after her friends Amelie, Harper, her cousin Ben, and lately her teacher Dara. She often pretends to be Dora or Snow White and says sternly, "No Mama, I'm NOT Chloe, I'm Snow White!".

Some other fun recent quotes...
"Mama, you're going to hit that car" (while pulling into a parking spot).
"Mama, why doesn't the Easter Bunny visit grown-ups?".
"Mama, when I'm a grown-up, I can use mascara"..."When I'm a grown-up, I can drive a car"
"Girls are nice, and boys are rough"
"No school, no daycare, no work, Mommy and Chloe day!"
"I have an idea...I can eat my supper and then we can have ice cream!"
"Mama, worms have no ears, no legs , no eyes, and no nose...but they have a mouth, yes."
"Mama, I don't want any stories, or want you to tell me something tonight, I need to go to sleep so the Easter Bunny can come"

An interesting blurb about 3 year olds:
Been asked to set an extra place at dinner for an imaginary friend yet? As many as half of preschoolers have a pretend buddy. These phantoms don't mean your child is lonely or maladjusted. In fact, kids with imaginary friends are more likely to grow up to be creative, cooperative, sociable, independent, and happy.

An imaginary friend can be human or animal and usually comes with a name and distinct personality. Part confidant, part playmate, part protector, and part scapegoat, they help kids practice relationship building and let them be in control for a change. A pretend friend can be a child's way of handling an increasingly demanding, expanding world.

Watching your child's interactions with her imaginary friend can give you useful insights into her fears and stresses. If her imaginary playmate is afraid of monsters under the bed, then your daughter may be, too.

Although it's wise to be respectful of your child's imaginary friend, try not to get involved in the relationship. For example, avoid using imaginary friends as a way to manipulate your child ("Harvey ate his peas, why can't you?"). Instead, follow her lead. She knows deep down this is an imaginary creation, and it can be a bit alarming to her if you buy into it too readily. These extra members of the family usually disappear by age 7, as your child becomes immersed in the very real-life world of school.
